Puerto Rico Ports Authority
The Puerto Rico Ports Authority[1] is a public corporation created by the Legislative Assembly of the United States' Commonwealth of Puerto Rico to develop and operate ports and airports within the Commonwealth. Governed by a Board of Directors whose members are appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico with the advice and consent of the Senate of Puerto Rico, its day-to-day operations are under the charge of an Executive Director, currently Alvaro Pilar.
The PRPA operates several ports, including the Port of San Juan, the commonwealth's largest, and the ports of Fajardo, Ceiba, Yabucoa, Aguirre, Guayanilla and Arecibo. It also owns the following airports:
- Aguadilla – Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN)
- Arecibo – Antonio (Nery) Juarbe Pol Airport (ARE)
- Ceiba – José Aponte de la Torre Airport (RVR)
- Culebra – Benjamín Rivera Noriega Airport (CPX)
- Fajardo – Diego Jiménez Torres Airport (FAJ) – operations moved to Ceiba airport in November 2008 [2]
- Humacao – Humacao Airport (HUC)
- Mayagüez – Eugenio María de Hostos Airport (MAZ)-operated by Mayagüez City Government
- Patillas – Patillas Airport (X64)
- Ponce – Mercedita Airport (PSE)
- San Juan / Carolina – Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU)
- San Juan / Isla Grande – Fernando Ribas Dominicci Airport (SIG)
- Vieques – Antonio Rivera Rodríguez Airport (VQS)
